Weekly Update: Story Backlog Edition

Extraterrestrial

I released this short story on Wednesday, to little fanfair, and have gotten no feedback. That's okay, as in this business feedback is pretty rare (I'm a pretty niche writer and I haven't exactly advertised anywhere!)

I've queued the story up to go on Literotica, and expect I'll know in a few days whether it's been accepted or not. I don't actually know if Oviposition stories are acceptable for that site, so it's possible that I may need to find another home for it if it gets rejected.

Hentai Foundry? Too anime.
Archive of Our Own? Too fanfictiony.

I'm probably missing a site or two I've forgotten about.

At any rate, I had fun writing this little story, and a sequel is unlikely unless another amazing idea pops into my head. I hope everyone enjoyed it!

Hot Pressed

This story rather suffered for getting 'Extraterrestrial' out this week, and due to a general malaise, but I very much hope I can get it moving along faster next week.

I have finished the middle of the story, and am planning on moving onto the final third soonish. I did sit down during the week and plot out exactly what scenes are remaining, so it should move along fairly rapidly since there really aren't any plot points left to figure out.

Probably another month and 10,000 words left on this one.

Robotic Restitution

Last week I took some photos I'm hoping to turn into book covers for this series, but I'm under no illusion that I'm a graphical artist. My best hope is to make something that doesn't completely suck (but it still might anyway).

At any rate, I did manage to finish the first pass edit on chapter 11 today, after a power outage yesterday delayed any work I could do on this by a full day (ouch).

Chapter 12 looks much shorter, so at least the workload won't be as crushing this week. With eight chapters to go, the end is coming up fairly soon... for the first read through. I still can't even quite wrap my head around the idea that I need to read everything at least once more before I can release anything. Gotta avoid as many embarrassing spelling and grammar mistakes as possible for my first (self)published novels!

Drone Envy

Pre-production on the 'teaser' story for Robotic Restitution has begun. This mainly consists of world building for now. The first line is going to be, "The day the invaders arrived was without fanfare."

The story will watch a nuclear family as they experience the invasion of Hive on their planet. The first hints of the invasion are subtle, and the aliens are called 'benign' and 'helpful' by the news media. Over time, the news broadcasts will show the news collaborating with Hive more an more, exhorting the local citizens to give in and do whatever they say.

The news anchor will put this into action by having 'Hive treatments' which slowly turns her skin blue and has her lose all her hair. Eventually she will become totally complicit.

In the mean time, this will all be watched by a family of citizens. Mom and Dad want the best for their children, who are visiting them between quarters from the college they are attending. One of the children is a party girl who ends up sampling the Hive's more... transformative tech. The other child is more of a bookworm and he gets enticed along with this tech friends by very friendly Drones.

I think this scenario has a lot of room to have some fun with the Hive world I've built up around Robotic Restitution, and will hopefully provide good background for the 'main' story I'm currently editing.

The only thing I'm worried about is the length... I'll have to speed it along pretty quick; I really don't need another novel length story gating the release of my other three novels! Perhaps it doesn't have to be the 'gate' - this story could always be released after the novels, I suppose.

Sky Train

This is another idea I've had bubbling around my head for a short story. The initial seed is rather grim as it stemmed from the disappearance of flight MH370. That flight ended in fuel exhaustion somewhere in the Indian Ocean. God rest their souls.

But what if instead an evil mind controller mistress was stealing the passengers off these planes to populate her underground secret volcano villains lair? What if, before the flight ever got off the ground, this mistress converted the flight attendants and co-pilot to be her slaves in order to recruit all the members of a flight?

I can just imagine the flight attendants, dressed in bubblegum pink latex, helping the passengers to relax as the cabin is flooded with a hypnotic agent, teaching them how to be docile before they reach their destination. I just haven't quite figured out what you'd do with any children on the flight. I refuse to write any erotic story with children in it, but I can't just make them all disappear when their families might be captive on the plane. Perhaps our 'evil' villainess brainwashes the families and returns them to the real world without memory of their stay with her? That's kind of dumb, I need some better ideas.

This could be a fun short story, I need to sit down and write it sometime.
