Around the Bend Edition

Repopulated

I've been working diligently on editing 'Repopulated,' and I've hit a pretty good milestone with this story - I'm on to editing the Epilogue, which is about 43 pages long.

The bad news is, that's almost 1/4 of the book, since it's a total of 193 pages long! Gulp!

Given the current rate of progress, I anticipate that I'll be finished with this by the end of next week, and then I'll have to make the final decision - will it be a book that can be published, or will I release it for free? I said last time I'm thinking of making it free, but I'm still wobbling on that point. I'll know for certain by next week, at which point I'll post more information.

I'm fairly pleased with how the story has come out, and there are several sexy sections to look forward to - if you like alien lesbian dick girls, of course!

Rubber Bees

This story is about 26K words, coming in at 60 pages, which is longer than I ever thought it would be! It's a deliciously twisted tale about superheroes being converted into bees coated with rubbery honey, straight from the depths of my imagination.

I will start editing this for a free release as soon as I finish working my way through Repopulated, but it's currently on the backlog. Too much to edit!

Training Betsy: BDSM Chronicles

I've recently started working on a new tale. This one is somewhat more... down to earth than a lot of my other works, and consists of a husband training an unfaithful wife to be his BDSM slave.

I'm up to 10K so far, and there will be a lot of sexy interludes, bondage, rubber, and awkward situations for poor Betsy to work her way through!

I don't quite know how long this one will be, as of yet, since I don't have a full outline (that's probably going to come back to bite me later!)

At any rate, this one will be suitable to release on Amazon for sure, so I might be targeting a late December release. I'll put out more details when I have them!

  1. "Love your work! I have almost all of your books. Please keep them coming!

The reason I'm writing is this: I've recently started writing myself, exploring ideas that have been brewing for a while. And oh, my heart! Literally. The images in my mind were so vividly sparkling, expanding, and developing that my heart raced for hours at 100-120 bpm. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days, even when I was at the grocery store. It was so intense that I became worried and went for a checkup (cardiologist, not a psychologist yet).

It's been a week now, and it's gotten better, but only after I spilled out about 20k words. They're crude, just outlines, unedited... but they are seeds. I've started to have breaks in those thoughts, having some time for my regular life. But my heart still races when I'm writing, for hours. It feels almost exactly like during an intense part of sex, but for hours. That can't be very healthy.

My question, Dr. Shim, is this: Can this be a normal 'new writer experience'? I'm writing this to you because I thought, 'Is this what an erotica writer feels?'"

  3. I think that this hits everyone a little differently, but what I can say is that I do tend to think frequently about my creations while I'm writing them. I'm constantly trying on new plot ideas, coming up with characters, and nipping/tucking small parts of the story to make it all fit together.

Generally, I find short walks and showers to be most productive in terms of coming up with ideas, but your mileage may vary.

I can't say I've ever had heart racing from my creative spells, but I do find it extremely arousing - depending on the material. Not every part is going to get me going, but it's much easier to write a section if it does. There's no shame in stopping to... take care of business, if you need to.

I prescribe more writing, until you can get one of your stories into a publishable state. That's the only way I know of to banish an idea from your mind - the knowledge that you have it down on paper, for safekeeping.

Editing can be rather grating, but getting your stuff out there is extremely satisfying (and sometimes reading it a second time can be just as exciting, because nobody can remember everything they've written). There are plenty of sites around the internet that will publish your stuff... I recommend Literotica in general, or MCStories if you're writing MC fiction.

If you're feeling brave, send me an email at halfshim@gmail.com, and you could be the lucky first person to read my next novel (if you like mind controlling alien dickgirls, that is).

  4. Thank you for your kind advice. I know that writing favors a gradual approach, I am hoping i could finding my own pace soon. I wanted to thank you for the long-time inspiration, including mind-controlling alien dickgirls. Maybe sometime I'll gather up enough bravery. Thank you :)

    1. Aww, bummer! I don't bite, you know! :)

It can be kind of lonely being a writer - I think yours is one of the few comments I've received in the last ~5 months, and I do treasure them all.

One more piece of advice as a writer - set a daily word count goal for yourself. It doesn't have to be large, it could even be 250 or 500 words a day (personally, I use 1000). In my opinion, that's the only way to get something long completed - it's way too easy to give in to distractions and procrastination. When motivation flees, determination and habits win.

Maybe one day you'll have something to publish! Do let me know if you manage to get a story completed and send me a link!

  5. It's not that you could bite, but it's me not having anything to show yet. :) And, don't feel too lonely, you must have a good number of regular followers - it is just the nature of this genre to not engage people in discussions. Since your stories, you know, engage your readers in some other, very specific way. Personally, I never comment or rate due to a bit of shyness, though I know it would really help the authors...

Thankfully, I've learned to embrace the grind in my line of work with graphics , so I'm quite hopeful about completing something substantial. I will definitely send you something once I finish and get past my initial drafts, inevitably rough beginner's drafts. I may not be good at writing things now, but I'm good at recognizing a good writing - and there is a lot of work ahead :)

Speaking of engagement - have you thought about finding a way to recieve anonymous feedback? Maybe there is some blog platfrom that allows readers to send reactions, thumbs ups or something...

    1. Well now, that certainly is fair enough, but without engagement, it's difficult to know whether what you're writing is hitting the mark! Although a lot of people tend to say that you should write for yourself, I've found that's not really enough - I want others to enjoy what I'm doing, too!

I have a presence on DeviantArt as well, where people can leave likes etc, but there's a lot of inertia behind setting up a blog, and it's difficult to know whether it makes sense to make a jump elsewhere. I'm still thinking through it, but haven't made a decision.

If you send me something, I'll definitely give it a read, but I can't promise to do any editing - I have enough troubles editing my own work! I do it all myself, you know, and since I have little engagement, I don't have any prereaders, either!
